Need help setting up a network-based surveillance system in your home or office?

Don’t know where to start?

Aspen Computer Services has years of experience in the installation and configuration of video surveillance and security cameras.  Whether you own a retail store and you want to control shoplifting, or you want to keep tabs on the employees when you are on vacation… we are the company to call.

Our experience ranges from hair salons, to one-room home offices.  Wired or wireless.

There are many reasons why someone would want to install a camera or cameras in a home or office… here are just a few:

  • To feel safer
  • To catch someone stealing
  • To regain a sense of control over one’s environment
  • To keep people honest

Back when I was just a kid.  My papa told me that the only thing a lock will do is keep honest people honest.  Now that I’ve got some more life under my belt, I wholeheartedly agree… and the same thing applies to any type of security system or surveillance camera system.

Ironically, the nice thing about cameras is that once you have them, you rarely need them.  Cameras have a way of keeping people honest.

Contrary to the reality shows on TV these days, when people are on camera they usually DO behave better!

Case in point:  Recently, I was chatting with a Fort Collins pizza shop owner about security cameras.  He says that he was able to cut food cost by almost 25% by installing a single camera in the kitchen.  Wow.  Then, we laughed about the perils of having a staff almost completely composed of college kids.  But, the fact that he was able to reign in his food cost that much is absolutely amazing!

Are you letting YOUR profits walk away?

I spoke with another client who we installed an exterior camera over the front door of his house.  He had been missing some UPS and FedEx package deliveries lately, and was getting pretty upset.  He decided that he would get to the bottom of things.  We came in, installed the camera and set it to record only when it detected motion between the hours of 7 am and 6 pm (when he was at work).  He was able to see, in full color, the FedEx guy ring the doorbell and drop off the package.  About 30 minutes later, he saw his neighbor from two houses down come and pick up the package and walk away.  Later that afternoon the cops were called.  He called to thank me immediately afterward.

Yet another one of my clients called me about office supplies going missing.  Not like a robbery… but, just going through supplies at about 3 times the normal rate.  They wanted to know if we could set up a “hidden” camera.  We had never done this before, but we agreed to try.  We then took a random piece of office equipment (and old and broken printer) and installed a camera inside of it.  It wasn’t completely hidden from view, but it was very inconspicuous).  Again, we set it to only record motion.  In this situation, we were surprised that it was the nightly janitorial staff who were coming in and taking things at random.  They were cautious not to take things on the nights that they cleaned, but since they had a key they would drive over, unlock the door, take a litte bit, and then lock the doors back up.

What are some of the features of today’s video surveillance systems?

  • Record only when motion occurs
  • Record only certain hours of the day
  • View your videos LIVE from any web browser
  • Some camera are even controllable over the web (zoom in, pan left or right, etc)
